In 2020, David Wood was delighted to be invited to be a ‘Leader in Residence’ and on the advisory board of the award-winning ‘Faculty of Culture and the Creative Industries’ at University of Lancashire – previously known as the University of Central Lancashire – by Jane Anthony, it’s Executive Dean [at the time].
The faculty is a past multi-recipient of the prestigious ‘Times Higher Education award for Excellence and Innovation in the Arts’; has around 6,000 students from over 140 countries; and offers a range of excellent courses covering the arts, media, humanities, language and global studies.
David was honoured to have been nominated for the position by musician, author, educator, and festival director Tony Rigg, who is the ‘MA Music Industry Management and Promotion’ course leader at the university. As many in the music industry will know, Tony’s had an illustrious career and has held several high ranking positions including: (1) Operations Director of Ministry of Sound; (2) Operations Director of Leisure Parcs Ltd, and (3) Regional Director of Luminar PLC.
Throughout his tenure at the university, David hopes to: (1) Enhance student experience; (2) Be a role model for students; (3) Influence ‘relevant to industry’ curriculum; (4) Contribute to the teaching and learning of students; (5) Take part in guest lectures, mentoring, masterclasses and employability events; and (6) If needed, help academic staff by contributing to their research projects.
